Where do you get your inspiration? How do you pull out of a bad mood?

I am tired today.  I have not gotten much sleep all week, and the cumulative effects are leaving me in a funk.  Therefore, this post will not offer any suggestions or ideas.  It is more of a request for your thoughts.

When you feel this way, where do you get your inspiration?  I know some people enjoy meditation, which is something I have never tried.  The closest thing I have done is yoga, which left me all sore and crabby.  However, I was probably doing it all wrong.

Usually the best thing for me to do in this situation is to get some good exercise.  Did you ever notice that the hardest time to actually get up and get moving is when you probably need it the most?  The couch is comfortable, it is warm.  The tv is right here… all of which is ultimately bad if you plan on actually getting anything done.

Luckily, I don’t have many days like this.  I a sure a giant jolt of coffee gets many up and about in the morning.  However, I am not a fan of coffee.  So I think what I will do is walk away from this computer, get a big glass of water, and go to the treadmill.

So have a great weekend, and send along a comment if you have a magic elixir for how you emerge from the occasional funk.

Hi Kris –

I find that music is the best way to get out of a funk. binaural beats are a good thing to listen to, but some of the recorded ones are boring, so I prefer to listen to music with a good beat like Classical Gas by Mannheim Steamroller, or listening to some South African music. Even listening to soft classical music can help calm me out of a funk. As soon as I remember to put on the music I always feel so much better!

Hi Sue! Music is a great idea. I know that it makes cleaning about a million times easier to tolerate. I will try it next time I am blah too!! Thanks!

Music or friends or a combo of the two work for me! It’s hard to feel blah when you’re bitchin’ about hubbies or making fun of stupid movies.

If you need to get stuff done, music works better than friends…I never get anything done with friends over (but I don’t mind).
