This post has nothing to do with anything I normally write about. However, it is a holiday weekend, which means anything goes!
The video below is admittedly sappy. However, I found it quite cute. I don’t want to reveal too much about it as it is quite enjoyable to watch.
The gist of the story is this: Conservationist Damian Aspinall raised a gorilla he named Kwibi from birth until age 5. He later released Kwibi into the wild through his Aspinall Foundation, which promotes wildlife conservation, and also has a million acre reserve in West Africa. (This gorilla was not raised like the infamous Travis of face-ripping fame. He was raised in a Wild Animal Park. I don’t think Kwibi played with stuffed animals or could use the remote control for the TV.)
Five years after Kwibi’s release into the wild, Aspinall decided to try and track him down and have a visit. They had no idea what to expect as Kwibi had not been very kind to humans recently. Watch the video embedded below to see the reunion of Aspinall and Kwibi. Special thanks to my mom for telling me about this video.
I hope everyone has been enjoying their Memorial Day Weekend!

Awwwww… now you went and made me cry. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful video.
Don’t cry Greeniac, it is just a wonderful little story! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and watch it!
What a sweet video. I felt sad for the gorilla. He misses his friend.
Diane- I was sad too when the gorilla was waiting in that little spot in the morning still. Thanks for watching!
Like Diane, I was sad for the gorilla, I hope he’s going okay now…
Interesting that the gorilla remembered him…
Money Reasons – I know, I hope he isn’t still sitting in that same spot! 🙂
I finally remembered to take a look at this when I was at home and could see the video. That is just so sweet and so sad at the same time. I’m glad the gorilla found mates, but I’m sad he misses the dude…
BFS – I am glad you got back to watch the video. It really is a neat little clip. Poor little gorilla. I hope he is happy again!
