Miscellaneous!!

Greetings!

Sorry for my hiatus of late.  I didn’t mean to be gone so long.  Life just got a little crazy and I needed to tend to some other things.

So, I think I will share just some miscellaneous thoughts that have been going through my head over the last few weeks- it has been difficult keeping such deep thoughts to myself!

  1. Where did this school year go?  My oldest son just returned from his senior trip- it feels like September was just yesterday!  In no time at all, I will be packing up the car and driving my son off to college.  I don’t think I am ready for that, but it is only 4 months away!
  2. Why is it that we got such fabulous weather in March, but every baseball or soccer game I watch in April is miserably cold?  Don’t get me wrong, I loved our incredibly short winter.  I think I just got spoiled.
  3. Speaking of the weather, will any of the strawberries plants in my garden (that already have flowers) actually bear fruit?  Or, will all this frost ruin the growing process?  Thoughts?
  4. In all my craziness, I forgot to start my tomatoes indoors- grrr!!
  5. The only good thing about time passing so fast is that the election will be over in no time at all.  Who do you predict will win?
  6. How come when a TV show is shown ‘live’, it looks so incredibly different?  I watched the live ’30 Rock’ episode (rerun), and it just seemed like a cheap production.  Must be because they can use multiple camera angles when it is taped?   I don’t know, it just seems like the image is cheap or something when it is shown live.
  7. Do we really need laugh tracks anymore?
  8. I wish I wasn’t allergic to flowers.  I would love to display some nice flowers in the kitchen.
  9. You can spend a LOT of money on eating out when you don’t have time to cook.  My credit card bill for last month is SCARY!
  10. The best time to give up a habit is when you are distracted by something else.

Got a thought to share?

I wonder how fast time will go when I am 70 if it goes this fast at 44??

Nice to hear from you. Yes, this year has gone by super fast.

So glad you’re back! Hope you’re feeling all nice and rehabbed from your surgery!
A few thoughts on your thoughts:
#1 – Time goes at WARP SPEED when your kids are teenagers – best wishes for a happy May when the final push comes at school, in sports, etc.
#2, 3 – Climate is what you expect, but weather is what you get.
l#5 – Barring any truly strange mistake or economic nosedive, I think Obama will be re-elected and the Senate and House will stay roughly the way they are.
#9 – You said it! Last year was our crazy year for not having time to cook, and we couldn’t believe the finally tally on our Quicken records for “dining out.” We could have bought a fairly decent beater car for what we spent.

Just a couple of my random thoughts:
Will Facebook still convert my page to Timeline if I don’t do anything to change it? I hope not, because I don’t like the format at all. For that matter, is Facebook a passing fad?

Do I really need to plant my tomatoes in a different spot this year? Someone told me you need to move the location every few years.

Who really killed the loathsome Mrs. Bates on “Downton Abbey?”

I worry about the Facebook thing too- I don’t like the timeline either.

I have planted my tomatoes in the same spot every year, but I am noticing they are not doing as well each year. I moving mine this spring for sure.

I don’t know what Downtown Abbey is! I will have to research. I will answer by saying it was the guy next door though that ‘kept to himself’.

Glad to see you are back. Hopefully life has calmed down.
Since you’ve been gone I bought a house! I might be hitting you up for gardening tips next year. Put my new huge yard to work.

Glad to hear from you. We are not ready for our baby to grow up yet. He is so cute and we like that. :)
Spring has been pretty miserable so far so we haven’t been spoiled yet. Can’t wait until summer…

Our ‘spring’ (end of winter) was fantastic here in Michigan.

Your baby is a cutie for sure, but each phase definitely has its positives.

#4: I used to think that our strawberry plants were duds. They had beautiful flowers, and it looked like strawberries were starting, but we never got berries from the plants. Then the dog came in with red all over her nose and I panicked. Was she bleeding? Did she get into something she shouldn’t? When I checked her out, something smelled sweet. Turns out she was eating all the strawberries and it was the first time she got caught.
#7: I find laugh tracks annoying at this point. They seem forced.

Oh my, that must have been scary seeing your pup with a ‘bloody’ nose! I didn’t know dogs ate fruit like that- that is funny!

The best one was when we had left a bunch of peaches from our tree in a bucket and they fermented. Found out the dog liked “peach brandy” too. Thanks for the miscellaneous thoughts!

This for some reason took me back to “Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey” on SNL. Yes, I’m definitely dating myself here! I loved the “Deep Thoughts” series. Anyway, random thought!

BTW, no, we do not need laugh tracks anymore {cue laughter}.

The old saying…Time flys when your having fun should be… Time flys, all the time. And the older you get the faster it flys. Our pups all eat a lot of fruit. They love strawberries and have gotten caught eating the carrots out of my brother n laws garden. If you think high school went fast for your son, college will go even faster. Whether your ready or not, he’s a man now or will be considered one in September. Good Luck.

Those dogs are great- very healthy!

I just can’t believe how fast the almost 18 years have gone. People always say the time will fly by, but I had no idea how quick it would really go! :(

I know I need to take more time to ‘smell the roses’. Sometimes though, there are so many darn thorns that it is difficult to remember to take the deep breath and notice all the great things around you.

Strawberry plants are my nemisis! I’ve planted them two years in a row now… and after spending $20 on plants, I was able to harvest a grand total of 5 berries!
This year… I give up.

Oh my gosh, just 5 berries? That would be frustrating. I have no idea what to expect this year. I have a ton of flowers.

I bought my strawberry plants from gurneys.com. They arrived as teeny tiny plants, but they have lived. The harvest is not nearly as great as advertised though.

Welcome back, Kris! The “cheap” effect might be higher framerates; I had to disable my New TV’s “auto high frame rate” option because it made movies look SO cheap. WTF do they turn stuff like that on by default?

I don’t think the winter was that short, haha. Glad for the heat which is finally coming! About predictions, you should check out intrade.com; you can bet on who you think will be the next president. ;)
