Hurricanes and Links

in Link Round Up

First of all, I hope everyone stays safe on the east coast as Irene makes her way through the area.  I don’t think I have ever seen a hurricane steer along the coast like Irene is supposed to do.  I can’t imagine what it must be like there with so many ordered to evacuate.  Where does everyone go??

Second, if you have power and have some leisure time, read through some of the links below.  You might laugh, you might cry, you might learn something, you might get hungry, who knows?

101 Centavos writes about how Ron Paul doesn’t get much media coverage, and I have wondered the same thing.  On the other hand, I hear so much about Michele Bachmann that I feel like she lives next door to me.

Budgeting In the Fun Stuff clears the air about pricing and dividends, with some help from Money Mamba!

Financial Samurai talks about how a college degree is still valuable, regardless of what some people want to tell you. Yes, unemployment is high and many educated people are out of a job.  However, when the market opens up again, I am sure the college educated have a greater chance of finding a good job than those who do not have a degree.

First Gen American gives some cleaning tips, straight from Babci.  All you need is an empty oven and/or microwave, and you are all set.

Invest It Wisely talks some about his trip to Ethiopia, but also makes us all grateful for being born for where we are and having the opportunities we have.

KrantCents asks us to describe our careers using six words.  I wonder if using special characters is allowed?  🙂

Money Reasons writes of someone he knew that had a creative way of getting spare parts, and taking advantage of the system. What do you think of this person’s ‘creativity’?

Retire By 40 is investing in dividend stocks and is looking for a new one to invest in.  Suggestions?

Squirrelers has a friend going wild, squirreling away time and money by avoiding ride wait times at a popular amusement park.

Wealth Informatics teaches us how to find lost money.  This post reminds me that I really need to do this.  Not because I think I have a ton of money out there waiting for me to claim, but I think there are some loose ends I need to tie up.

Again, sorry I have not been around much.  I appreciate all your comments and read them all, I just haven’t had as much time to respond.  I will be around more soon, I promise!

Enjoy your weekend, and stay safe!

Thanks for the mention. I almost didn’t post the article because of the clever, but very wrong act.

Thanks for the roundup. Working is good. I just hope you have something nice in mind for the extra money you’re making. Having a goal for the paychecks always helped me get through tough times.

Hi Kris,

I sometimes wonder that too! Hope everyone was safe on the east coast… we had a lot of rain and some strong winds up here in Canada, but all in all, it was a fun and interesting rain day. Our windows got mostly washed of the spiders (but not completely), so my girlfriend was happy about that. 😉

Thanks for the mention and hope you have a good week.
