It has been a long week, so I decided to keep it light for today and share a few things I came across while looking at the spam folders and blog stats from the past week.
My Favorite Search Term:
Term: “sh*t to do in winter” (there was no asterisk in the original search term)
Page ended up on: 15 Inexpensive Things To Do In Winter
Chances the post answered the question the reader had: 50%. Even though the article does provide ideas on what to do in winter, not sure the post contained the type of things the reader wanted to do.
My Second Favorite Search Term:
Term: “How to park 3 cars in a 2 car garage”
Page ended up on: How Many Cars Do You Park In Your Garage?
Chances the post answered the question the reader had: 0%. The article was actually about how people store a lot of junk in their garages and quite often, don’t have enough room for their cars. Nowhere does the post state how to cram an entire extra car in the garage. If such a post existed, I would love to read it though.
My Favorite Comment:
Comment: “Hey, you used to write magnificent, but the last several posts have been kinda boring¡K I miss your super writings. Past few posts are just a bit out of track! come on!” (sic)
My reply: Sorry to be so out of track and boring. I too miss my magnificent writing!
My Favorite Line From A Spam Email:
From the email: “I am contacting you in the hope of reaching a mutual agreement regarding an unknown sum totaling US$130,000,000 USD.”
Why I like it: The sum is supposed to be unknown, yet it totals $130,000,000. (Compliments of Gaddafi.)
So, how was your week? Have anything fun you would like to share?

Hey Kris,
Feeling snarky much? JK, I think people forget or don’t care that most bloggers do read comments and take direct and indirect feedback very seriously. Sometimes it’s not what you say but how you say it!
Hey Shawn, I totally meant the post to just be fun. However, after reading your comment, I looked at the post and saw the part you were probably referring to. Hopefully, the post more reflects the fun intent like it was meant to. Thanks for the feedback.
wow..people use curse words in searches huh. I would be afraid of getting porn in my search results…although maybe that’s what the reader wanted to find.
I don’t know why, but I loved that search term. I just wish I knew if the post helped that person at all, or if they were looking for some different info!
These are all pretty fun, although I don’t know that I would want to see the aftermath if the searcher for the “how to park 3 cars in a 2 car garage” query found a post that gave instructions on that (guess it comes down to how nice you want your car(s) to look after you’ve parked them).
Along the line of your favorite spam that helpfully listed the unknown sum as $130M, we got a memo at work that ended with “We appreciate your cooperation in this mandatory program.” Nothing like a gracious ultimatum….
I love that “undisclosed” amount. Spammers provide much entertainment at times.
I hope that person looking to park three cars in a two car garage found some sort of answer. It’s questions like those that make me wish the internet could answer back in simple answers. If so, it would say “you don’t.”
thanks for the fun post, cracked me up… especially the comment that was like “hey you use to be great, what happened” (lol)… nice…
As for the search “How to park 3 cars in a 2 car garage”, the answer is “you don’t”… Shoot, I just type this and I see that Lindy Mint beat me to it… Oh well, I’ll consider myself a 2nd vote for “you don’t”.
Oh I love the spam comments, and the search terms. I was going to do a similar post.. maybe next week.
Ahh the search terms make me laugh. I hope Google has a ticker around their office that flashes the most unique search queries.
Btw, your site looks amazing. You made the switch the Thesis!
Reading spam is a nice occasional diversion. Especially when it’s so potentially lucrative.
Very entertaining. 🙂 The search strings definitely help add humor to blogging 😛
LOL….I love the “unknown sum” one. And we sure do get lots of weird search terms don’t we? I have to take another look and post some of my favorites too.
I loved writing that post. When I was scrolling through my search terms and saw what I saw, I knew I had to write a post about it. Then the unknown sum came in right afterward, and it all fit perfectly for me!
You should write a post, there is so much great material out there in the spam world.
